Why does a third of adults say they live with schoolchildren, when household statistics show markedly fewer such households? This question is examined by Serhii Dembitskyi, Chief Research Fellow of the Sociological Monitoring Sector. Drawing on the findings of a sociological survey whose results are to be published shortly, he analyses which adults answer the questions about children’s school situation, what these figures can be compared with, and where the limits of their accuracy lie.
