Analytical material by Serhii Dembitskyi, Doctor of Sociological Sciences: “Studying states of stress under war conditions: key findings”

30 June 2025

The website of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine has published an analytical material by Serhii Dembitskyi, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, "Studying states of stress under war conditions: key findings"

The empirical findings on states of stress set out below are, in my view, of considerable conceptual importance for the study of the phenomenon of psychological distress. They, along with other results, were obtained in the course of the research project “States of stress among the population of Ukraine in the context of the war: prevalence, risk groups and ways of compensation”, funded under the competitive programme of the NAS of Ukraine “Research and scientific and technical (experimental) work under the priority direction ‘Ukrainian society in conditions of war, post-war transformation and European integration' for 2023–2024” (state registration number: 0123U100793).

What follows, in effect, is my top five main results, which can be regarded both as the fundamental achievements of our project and as a basis for further applied work. They (and not only they) are described in more detail in the monograph I co-authored with Yevhen Golovakha and Viktor Stepanenko, “States of stress among the population of Ukraine in the context of the war: the experience of sociological study”. I hope we shall present it to everyone interested in the near future.
