A dialogue between classics of Ukrainian sociology
We are used to conversation about scholarship being serious and strict in form. Such conversations are traditionally dressed, as it were, in greatcoats buttoned up to the neck. Abroad it is the opposite — the luminaries of scholarship often choose the format of an informal conversation, even in monographs and textbooks. And in doing so we not only take in serious content but seem to hear living voices, following the formation of a thought and the search for truth, which is always interesting.
It is exactly this format that two leading Ukrainian sociologists have treated us to — without exaggeration living classics (there is no need to be shy of the word) of Ukrainian academic scholarship: the Director of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine, Professor Yevhen Golovakha, and one of the founders (like his interlocutor) of Ukrainian sociology, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, for many years head of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, Professor Volodymyr Paniotto.
Both interlocutors were included as long ago as 2002 in the prestigious publication “Who's Who in the World”. They are therefore well known both in Ukraine and beyond it.
Their interesting dialogue on YouTube, published in the podcast of the well-known academic publisher Dukh i Litera, can be seen here:
