A historical and theoretical analysis of research programmes in sociology
Dear colleagues, the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine invites you to read the electronic version of a collective monograph by the staff of the department of the history and theory of sociology, edited by V. Reznik:
A historical and theoretical analysis of research programmes in sociology. A collective monograph / V. Vorona, V. Kazakov, N. Otreshko, V. Pylypenko, V. Reznik, V. Stepanenko; ed. by V. Reznik. Kyiv: Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine, 2022. 249 p.
The monograph presents the results of research into the experience of the reception, mastering and testing of I. Lakatos’s post-positivist methodology of analysing research programmes in sociology. The origins and content of Lakatos’s methodology are examined in the context of a comparison of different versions of positivism in sociology and the philosophy of science. The specificity of post-positivism in sociological research, its advantages and limitations compared with other social-scientific paradigms, are brought out within a broad, representative multiparadigmatic context of the social sciences. The elements and outlines of a post-positivist conception of sociological science are explicated. Interpretations and applications of the ideas of post-positivism in sociological analytical-empirical, historical-theoretical and metatheoretical inquiries are systematised. In-depth explications are made of the trends and conceptual potential of the theoretical research programmes of civil society and transculturality.
For researchers, lecturers, doctoral students, postgraduate students and undergraduates.
