Ukrinform has reported that it obtained an exclusive comment from the Director of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor Yevhen Golovakha. Assessing the constant missile strikes on Kyiv as a form of crude psychological pressure on Ukrainians, the sociologist stressed the futility of such hopes and the historical ignorance of the aggressors. Just as the terrible constant bombing of London by the fascists only strengthened the spirit of the British, so the terrorist missile attacks, including night-time ones, with which the rashists are trying to break Ukrainians' will only strengthen our will to resist, our hatred of the aggressors, and consolidate Ukrainians.
We are holding on, but this constant terrorism affects Ukrainians' psyche, Golovakha observed: «If before the great war only 4% of people constantly saw horrors and nightmares in their sleep, by the autumn of 2022 that was happening to almost a third of Ukrainians. A constant state of anxiety before the war was 10%, and by the autumn of 2022 – this figure had risen to 40%».
Yet the index of Ukrainians' resilience, according to the Rating group, has scarcely changed, the sociologist stressed, and the latest surveys show that the overwhelming majority of us do not agree to any concessions to the aggressor, and more than two thirds believe the war can be ended only on Ukraine's terms with the restoration of the 1991 borders.
We are confident: Ukrainians, despite all the difficulties of the war, believe in victory, and our optimism is built on historical experience and on research findings – the head of the Institute concluded.
