The website of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine has published a popular science material by I. V. Matsko-Demydenko, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, "Art under the sirens: theatre in times of war"
The full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war has shifted ordinary social life into a mode of emergency and the extraordinary. Since the start of the full-scale invasion every sphere of society has undergone change, culture among them. Culture, as is well known, performs the important function of sustaining citizens’ resilience in emergency circumstances and helps restore the resources of everyday life. That is precisely what became the focus of our study of theatre art under wartime conditions, in the course of which semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with members of the community of the “Dyvaky” (Oddballs) theatre studio, whose actors are children and teenagers.
