On 5 March 2025 the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine held the now customary (second) readings dedicated to the memory of Valerii Mykhailovych Vorona, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine. The theme chosen for this year's discussion was the determination of directions for Ukraine's further development in the context of changes in the global space, namely: “Ukrainian society in conditions of polycrisis”.

The participants' papers differed in their lines of analysis, but all without exception were profound, many-sided and interesting.

The readings were opened with a welcoming address by the Director of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Ye. Siryi, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, analysed the current and future threats to Ukraine's sustainable development as a result of the war; E. H. Pozdniakova-Kyrbiatieva, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, and Yu. V. Mosaiev, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, proposed their own conception of the reintegration of war veterans, built on many years of experience in rehabilitation and on empirical social-psychological research; M. S. Shyrokova, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, offered a sociological analysis of the formation of a contemporary economic culture in Ukrainian society and examined the main difficulties that arose in the course of its formation; N. O. Maistruk, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, described the main problems of trust in research institutions in connection with the development of new technologies in conditions of polycrisis; A. A. Bova, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, presented the results of his own research into the emotional reactions through which Ukrainian citizens' vision of their own future is determined.

The discussion took place in the traditional (offline) and digital (online) formats and spanned cities of Ukraine (Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih) and abroad (Dublin). A brief review of the papers presented at the conference will appear in issue No. 2 of the journal “Sociology: Theory, Methods, Marketing” in the section “Academic life”. Following the second sociological readings, a collection of materials is also to be published in digital form (it will appear on the Institute's website) and in print.

The organising committee thanks all the participants of the meeting and looks forward to further cooperation. We look forward to seeing you again on 5 March 2026!
