In memory of Professor Makeiev

Dear colleagues!

It is with deep sorrow that we report that on 2 December 2023, at the age of 73, there passed away

Serhii Oleksiiovych Makeiev

Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, head of the Department of Social Structures, Deputy
Director for Research of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

In the memory of generations Serhii Oleksiiovych embodies the noble qualities of a true scholar, devoted to
scholarship to his last breath, holding high and unquestioned authority and the reputation of an uncompromising
seeker of truth, a cultivated, erudite and humane person committed to understanding and analysing social problems.

S. O. Makeiev's scholarly legacy consists of highly intellectual works, profound in content, of original and
unsurpassed contributions to academic forums, and of numerous students fortunate enough to study under so recognised a specialist in sociology.

Ukraine's scholarly community has suffered an irreparable loss.

We express our sincere condolences to the family of S. O. Makeiev,

to his friends and colleagues and to all who knew and spoke with such an exceptional person. In accordance with Serhii Oleksiiovych's wishes expressed during his lifetime, the farewell took place among his closest relatives.

We shall keep his bright and eternal memory in our hearts.
