War and democracy: the research track

Our American colleague, a sincere supporter of Ukraine and a native of Kyiv, Mikhail Alexseev, commented on recent diplomatic events for the Los Angeles Times, drawing on data recently collected by the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine.

Mikhail, who represents San Diego State University, is the initiator and unfailing driving force of many years of cooperation with our Institute (it began in 2017) aimed at studying the influence of the war on attitudes towards democracy in Ukraine.

In 2023 George Washington University (Henry Hale) joined the project, which made it possible to continue it as a panel study, the foundation of which was laid by our Institute's monitoring data in 2021.

This year our Institute collected the panel data on its own, thanks to the launch of its own CATI studio.
