The 22nd International Research and Practice Conference “Problems of the development of sociological theory. Making sense of resistance, solidarity and peacebuilding”

Dear colleagues!

We invite you to take part in the professional conference of Ukraine's sociologists, which will be held on 30 May 2025.

The 22nd International Research and Practice Conference “Problems of the development of sociological theory. Making sense of resistance, solidarity and peacebuilding” invites researchers from various countries to study these phenomena, addressing both the Ukrainian experience and its global resonance. The aim of the conference is to present research approaches and findings on the evolution of sociological theory in response to contemporary conflicts and wars, with particular attention to Ukraine. Participants are invited to present theoretical work and research drawing on empirical data from Ukraine and other conflict zones.

Key themes for discussion:

• Unity and conflicts in a protracted war;
• The everyday reality and life practices of Ukrainians;
• Media and war: sociological aspects of the transformation of discourse;
• The cultural and educational endurance of societies amid global turbulence;
• Theoretical and practical models of peacebuilding in post-conflict conditions.

“Problems of the development of sociological theory” is an annual international research and practice conference held by the Faculty of Sociology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (https://sociology.knu.ua/) in partnership with the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (https://isnasu.org.ua/) and the Sociological Association of Ukraine (https://sau.in.ua/) for the scholarly discussion of the main trends in the development of Ukrainian society and Ukrainian sociology.

The conference is held with the support of the Erasmus+ project “Curriculum Reform to Promote Education for Peace in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova” 101128854-PeaceEdu-ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE (GA No. 101128854)
