Biography
She graduated from the faculty of mechanics and mathematics of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University with a degree in "mathematics" and worked at the faculty of cybernetics of the same university.
In the 1980s she became fascinated by the ideas of the theory of nonlinear systems, better known here under the name of synergetics. At the end of the 1980s she moved to the sociology division of the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1993 she defended a candidate’s dissertation on «Synergetic preconditions for the integration of micro- and macrosociological approaches», concerned with the problem of micro-macro integration in sociology and with the potential of synergetics as a methodological basis for integrative inquiry.
In 2005 she defended a doctoral dissertation on «Social self-organisation: the synergetic paradigm, the possibilities of social interpretations», in which she proposed her own model of the processes of social change, based on combining the organisational and self-organisational mechanisms of social dynamics. Since 2001 she has been an active member of the Ukrainian Synergetic Society and a populariser of synergetic ideas in the field of socio-humanitarian knowledge. She is an active member of the laboratory of post-non-classical studies at the Centre for Humanitarian Studies of the NAS of Ukraine. Author of more than 150 scholarly publications.
