Zlobina Olena Genadiivna

She graduated from the faculty of philosophy (department of psychology) of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University and from the postgraduate programme of the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Her main works are in the field of the theoretical and methodological problems of social psychology and of the sociology of personality. Since 1990 she has worked at the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine as a senior research fellow, and since 2005 as head of department. In 2004 her monograph „Personality as a subject of social change” was published, as well as a monograph co-authored with I. O. Martyniuk, N. I. Sobolieva and V. O. Tykhonovych, „The social space of life as a subjective symbolic reality”. In 2012 the monograph «Images of success – an experience of visual research» appeared, co-authored with L. Bevzenko. She is the academic editor and the head of the author teams of the monographs «Social interests in the context of socio-cultural modernisation» (2011); «Behavioural strategies of the population as a factor of modernisation (an experience of empirical research)» (2012); Social regulation of behaviour under conditions of social instability (2013); Socio-psychological factors of the integration of Ukrainian society (2016).

Research interests: the anthropocentric paradigm in sociology. Her main research topic is the transformation of the relations between the individual and society under conditions of social change. She takes part continuously in applied projects of a social orientation, devoted in particular to analysing the life of such social groups as young people, those affected by the Chornobyl disaster, internally displaced persons and others.

She has supervised 7 successfully defended dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

Author of special courses for students of sociology faculties: “The sociology of personality”, “The sociology of deviant behaviour”, “The sociology of everyday life” and others.
