About the publication

The authors of the monograph examined the theoretical and methodological foundations for developing a system of social indicators to study societal transformations in Ukraine. They synthesized the long-term experience of monitoring research conducted by the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and analyzed the evolution of approaches to measuring social change—from the period of post-Soviet transformation to the current conditions of full-scale war and future post-war reconstruction. Special attention is paid to the methodological challenges of adapting sociological tools to wartime conditions, as well as the development of indicators for researching mass migration, demographic losses, transformations of the labor market and social structure, and changes in culture, education, socio-political life, and the psychological state of the population. The possibilities of applying sociological tests in monitoring research to increase the validity, reliability, and sensitivity of sociological measurements are examined separately.

The book is addressed to sociologists, teachers of social sciences, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as anyone interested in the methodology and methods of researching social change, the social dynamics of Ukraine, and the possibilities of scientific analysis of transformational processes in modern society.
