Golovakha Ievgenii Ivanovich

He graduated from the faculty of psychology of the Lomonosov Moscow University (1967-1972) and from the postgraduate programme of the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1973-1976). In 1976 he defended his candidate’s dissertation (on «The structure of group activity. A socio-psychological analysis»), and in 1990 his doctoral dissertation (on «Life perspective and the professional self-determination of young people»). Doctor of Philosophical Sciences in the speciality «applied sociology» (1990), professor (2007). In various years he was a member of the Committee on Political Socialisation and Political Education of the International Political Science Association, of the European Association of Experimental Social Psychology and of the American Association for Research in Personality and Social Psychology. His scholarly works have been published in Ukraine, Russia, the USA, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary, Israel, Poland and Belarus.

Reviews of his works have been published in academic journals in Russia, the USA, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. He is the author of numerous articles and interviews in the media and in popular-science publications, and one of the leading Ukrainian sociologists actively taking part in expert discussions in the major media. For a number of years he was a member of the Public Council of Experts on Domestic Policy Issues and of the Commission for Promoting Democratisation and the Development of Civil Society under the President of Ukraine.

Research interests: the theory and methodology of sociology, the sociology of politics and of social transformations, the sociology of personality, social psychology.
