This chapter presents a theoretical model of national resilience within the space of social configurations. The conceptual foundation of the model is Norbert Elias's figurative sociology. The author examines functional, attributive, and discursive approaches to defining national resilience, focusing on the functional approach as the foundation.

A two-dimensional model is proposed that integrates the nature of responses to challenges (reactive, interactive, proactive) and the focus of social action (on oneself and loved ones, on market/social structures, on state institutions).

Particular attention is paid to the analysis of certain individual strategies of national resilience: the national deserter, the national activist, and the national pragmatist. It is concluded that the dynamics of national resilience directly depend on the prevalence and interaction of various individual strategies in society.
